A Light Wind - a standing lamp

Wood Type

Walnut and Stained Glass

Description

There are times when I sit by the fire with a sketch pad and draw various kinds of shapes and combinations of shapes.  It’s nice, and relaxing, and very handy being near an incinerator where you can simply open the lid and toss in the drawings that are rubbish.  “A Light Wind” was one that escaped the flames of erasure.  It doesn’t require too much imagination to be reminded of a mast and sail.  All that’s missing is the vessel but perhaps we’re standing on her.  It’s no surprise that sailing vessels are referenced in the feminine gender with all of their beautiful lines and curves.  “A Light Wind” is definitely a she that can also light your way.  She’s made of American black walnut, bronze and glass.
