Saddle Up!

Wood Type

Scrub Oak (Gambel Oak) Walnut

Description

"Saddle Up" is a different spin on the iconic library ladder designed and first built by Wharton Esherick in the early 1900's.  The structure is made almost entirely of gambel (scrub) oak while the saddle is carved from solid walnut.  The stirrups and straps are real, not carved.  This was a wonderful commission, as the owner's involvement consisted of providing the concept and a few dimensional parameters, that's it!!...a dream for any artist, and the result of which is generally a more interesting piece. Thank you Cheryl.
